Age 18, Got Caught Shoplifting, No Police Involved

My question involves criminal law for the state of: hi im 18 and i got caught shoplifting at macy in ca, they took me to the backroom and askd me few questions they were pretty nice to me becuase i have been honest with them. they took my picture and i sighned the civil demand notice paper. they didnt call the cops or anything. i askd them what would happen to me they said that i cant work at macy but i can shop there and they wont release my informations, everthing will be internal. then after i signed the paper they said theyll send me a fine . the amount i stolen was about 70 dollars, what would my fine be??? iam 18 years old. will they press charges against me??? the LP said if i had lied to them about stealing stuffs they woulve called the cops.

Expect a fine around or over $300.00. They have around one year to file criminal charges however they would gain nothing by doing so

it says our review of the facts surrounding this case will be completed in approximately 45 days. if we decide to refer this matter to the prosecuting attorney, and they accept it for prosecution, you will be officially notified by the police or the court. when i got caught, no polices were involved and they let me go after signing the controlled released form and gave me a civil demand notice, is it common for macy to sue people like that???

Its common for all retailers to do this its called Civil Demand. I doubt there will be any criminal action just pay the Civil Demand and hopefully lesson learned

yea, after what happend, i will never never ever steal again. is it possible or common that they will only fine me and i dont have to go court or do community service????

Based on your post I would "guess" thats most likely outcome. Just pay Civil Demand and this should be over

does the LP have the say of what they recommand their adviers to do to me?? and did the LP have to write a report? do i still have to go to court or it will be over if i pay the fine

No one can say that for sure. I am saying the retailer has nothing to gain by pressing charges especially if you pay Civil Demand

how long would it take for them to decide? cuz im very worry about it right now.
