    Michigan HYTA And Background Checks
    Quick question.
Will my credit card theft offense be on my record when a company does a background check? I'm still on probation and haven't violated anything.
It was told to me that if i didn't violate the probation, it would not show up.
    Is that true??

A HYTA disposition should be a nonpublic record, and thus shouldn't show up. But the associated arrest record may nonetheless show up, and I can't promise you that even a HYTA record won't appear as I've seen it happen.

I agree & sometimes it depends on how thorough of a background check the employer does.

Well thats what sorta worries me actually...
I have been offered a position as a Credit Card Rep. at National City Bank ironically enough, lol.
There background check covers county, and statewide and i believe much more.
This job is a great opportunity for me, but im freaking out because i have a really bad feeling there gonna see that im on HYTA.
Even if it does show im on HYTA, will is show why i am?
Do you think i stand a chance at all??

I would think a background check by a bank would be pretty thorough. Did you already complete an application and if so, did you answer all questions in regard to arrests/convictions, etc. truthfully? If you lie on an application, an employer will not hire you for sure.

We can't really say how much of a chance you have of getting the job - it depends on the individual employer. However, a theft arrest would be a concern for a bank.

I've already filled out an app. and had an interview and everything.
It asked me on the app. if i had ever been "convicted" of, not "charged" of, a misdemeanor or felony.
Because its stated convicted, i have the legal rights to say no.
    So i didn't technically lie.

Do companies base there criminal background searches bases on convictions or charges?? Or is it just everything in general?

Also, can my P.O. help me out with this at all?
