Getting A DUI Off Of My Driving Record
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida/Georgia
I pled guilty to DUI in GA over 10 years ago (I now live in FL). From what I understand it will always be on my criminal record, but that after a certain time it would be removed from my driving record. As of now it is still there.
1st- Is it true that I can't have the conviction expunged from my criminal record?
2nd- Can I get it removed from my driving record on my own?
I am unemployed and I want to do everything I can to not have negative information in my backround when it's being checked.
Thanks
Re: Getting A DUI Off Of My Driving Record
I don't know of any state that permits expungements from driving records. You have to wait until it drops off.
In regard to criminal record expungements in Georgia, read this.
Re: Getting A DUI Off Of My Driving Record
I had a DUI in Georgia. It actually dropped off my license 3 years from the date of the arrest; not the conviction, but the arrest/offense date. It was also gone from my 5-year history, too. You can check your Georgia DL online through the GA DMV website. It's something like $10 if I recall correctly.
Good luck,
