16 Year Old Boy Caught With Child Porn

my 16 year old son was caught with child porn, he has never been in trouble with the law before. This would be first offence, also in his mind he wanted to see porn of people of his own age, not older people doing it. I wanted him to not see porn at all, told him to never do it. But he didnt listen, hes very depressed , feels his life is over. He regreats it very badly, everything i look up seems to say hes life is over. Theres no charges yet, and no arrest, but i feel that will happen soon. What can we do? what can happen? I need help, i love my son. will he go to prision? probation? be a sex offender? (worst fear) like he told the police hes still a virgin, its true, no girlfreind in real life only on net and he stays to him self.

Absolutely.

Here in Georgia, there was a recent case of one teenager being arrested for the production, possession and distribution of child porn because he sent his buddies the pics he took on his cell phone when his girlfriend was... um... doing stuff to him.
