Giving Up Fatherly Rights
My question involves child support in the State of: Texas. I met a girl in a bar, had a one night stand. Now I'm being served papers for child support. The child is now a year old. She wants child support, visitation, and provision of insurance. We are now going through a DNA test. The mother did not put my name on the birth certificate and I have not even seen the child. If it turns out that I am the father, am I able to give up my rights as the father. And if I am allowed to give up rights, would this keep me from adopting a child in the future?

Without the Mother having a current hubby willing to adopt its very doubtful you will be granted a TPR

In other words, if you don't want a baby, don't have sex.
You cannot just give up parental rights because it is inconvenient.
Instead, try to begin a relationship with the child and realize the joys of fatherhood.
You might as well... you will certainly be paying enough for the priviledge.
Re: Giving Up Fatherly Rights
You can terminate your rights but it will not release you from your financial obligation to the child. If you terminate your rights she can adopt the child out, or make it so you will never ever see or be a part of that chiild's life. Think long and hard before making that type of decision. You may come to regret it. Don't punish the child because you've been given an amazing gift.
