Hyphenating My Children's Names In Washington
My question involves name change laws in the State of: Washington (King County)

My oldest 3 children already use my last name for everything over the past 4 years, including school. They want to keep their fathers last name and add mine legally. Their father won't be consenting simply because he cannot be found. The oldest is almost 16 anyway. Is it going to be difficult or since I am simply adding my name will that help make the process smoother? Anyone know where I can get the forms as well?

Go to your local courthouse and ask for the forms to do a name change. If dad cannot be found, then you'll need to serve him via publication.

Since you're asking to hyphenate, shouldn't be a problem at all.
