    Request For Court Reporter
My question involves traffic court in the State of: CA

I requested for my traffic court to have a court reporter or electronic recording of proceeding. I used the standard nool form.

The court came back with a reply Per Traffic Commissioner xxxxxx, a court reporter must be provided by you at your own expense.

First of all can they do this and is it worth fight for. My suspision is no.

So.. on this I just need to bring a tape recorder.

You will have to supply your own court reporter - the state is under no obligation to do so. That can be expensive.

You will have to ask the court about any audio recording. It may be permitted, but I cannot guarantee it.

Generally, the hearings are only recorded if there is a pro tem on the bench. Otherwise, recordings will be at your expense also.

And yes, court reporters when requested for traffic hearings are at your expense. And yes, they are EXTREMELY expensive. Probably more than your ticket.
