    Neighbor Complains About Loud Sex
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Ca

I live in a graduate student community, in Orange County CA. My girlfriend visits every weekend and stays with me Friday and Sat night.

My neighbor complains that we are having too much sex. After the initial complaints we reduced the noise and amount of sex we are having.

    She still complaints!

I am going to talk to housing assistant officer, and I was wondering can she legally force me to stop having sex?

Fact of the matter is that the same person complained to her roommate about noise from washing hands into the sink, and I have proof of that. Also she left embarrassing notes on my door, which I also kept. Plus her first complain was rather violent, as she came up to my door and started ringing the bell repeatedly and then started kicking my door!

Thanks for reading this any reply will be greatly appreciated, not sure how to handle this situation, and the last thing i want is not to be able to enjoy my private time with my girlfriend.

No, she can't. But she can kick up a fuss if you continue to make a lot of racket.

Yes, yes, I know, you say you've quieted down. And maybe you have. But maybe the walls are awfully thin or maybe you're still louder than you think you are (more likely a combination of both).

I suspect your housing officer is going to tell you to tone it down. If that is indeed the case, I suggest you look into the creative use of pillows for whichever of you is the more vocal, because the complaints won't stop until your neighbor starts getting some regular...ah...attention...or she moves out.

    Not legal advice -

But, if your bedroom wall is a wall shared by the complaining neighbor...

Perhaps entertain yourselves in another room.

we don't share a wall, her bedroom is below my roommate's bedroom. I do share a wall with my roommate, and I am above her roommate's room.

leaving in a grad student community, we don't have an extra room anyways :(

here is the thing, my neighbor is taking a shower and I can hear, the walls are awfully thin!

Other than stop having sex I don't see any solution, I mean we try not be loud but you can't help it but make a few sounds.

I know maybe we're louder than we think, but here is what changes we did thus far: first my girlfriend used to visit on Wed, but not anymore (now she comes here Friday evening and leaves Sunday afternoon), then we take short trips on Saturdays, (last Sat we were on Catalina, we go to Vegas on the 10th) and when we make love we changed the technique to reduce the noise.

Not sure what else I can do....

Get a room? Go to her place?

And dude, knock off the TMI. We don't care that you "changed technique". It's not germane to the topic at hand.

no one is comfortable talking about his/hers private life, for sure I am not.

my roommate and her roommate have no complaints about the noise, and those are the two closer to me, based on that fact I know we don't make that much noise anymore.

living in an apartment community one has to have a certain level of tolerance.

Your neighbor has a right to "quiet enjoyment" of her premises. If you are aware that the walls are thin and you are being too loud, then you take the risk of getting in trouble for it.

Expect the neighbor to complain if it continues and you will have to see what steps the management will take.
