Shoplifting In Arizona
My question involves criminal law for the state of: AZ
I wsa caught shoplifting in a Dillards store this afternoon in AZ. I switched the tag on an item to pay a lesser price and was caught on camera. They brought in the police and I was given a date to appear in court in a few weeks. I know that i am guilty and want to take responsibility and comply with whatever the court decides...what I want to know is how will this affect my record. I am a mother of two young children, my husband is out of work and I am concerned about getting a job in the future. I have no record and feel like an idiot for doing something so stupid. I don't know if I should be talking to a lawyer ( we currently have no income) or will the court appointed lawyer tell me if there is anything I should be doing?
Thanks!

If convicted you will have a criminal record. Consult an Attorney or request public defender when you go to court. Then ask your Attorney about Diversion and if available if you quailify
