Car Warranty Company Went Bankrupt
I'm having trouble with the extended Warranty I bought when I paid for my used car. When I bought my used car since it was a nice car a 2001 Cobra I knew parts would be expensive so I bought the extended Warranty for it. I had an option of the Silver package or the gold one, I decided I didn't want to take any chances and so I went with the golden option. The price of the package was I believe for 3500$ and covered everything bumper to bumper. It was a 4 year or 48,0000 mile warranty. I bought the car at the ending of 05 and I had no problem's with the car until now. I tried to use the warranty only to find out the company wasn't answering any calls, a quick search online found out that in August of 06 the company went bankrupt.
My first thought was to call the dealership and ask WTF was going on...they confirmed that the warranty was out of business and that only insured warranties would be covered. I have my copy of the warranty stored so I asked them to pull the record, they did and mine wasn't insured. There was a lawsuit against the company I was never informed about it and believe its too late to get anything back. Do I have any legal right to sue the dealership for selling me an uninsured warranty? Or am I out of luck due to SOL? I'm from NJ but bought the car in PA.
Could anyone help me on this?
