Bringing Up PTSD In Court
My question involves divorce in the State of: WI
My girlfriend's husband filed for divorce. She responded and asked the divorce not be granted. She would like the judge to order them to marriage counseling first. After he filed he was diagnosed by a doctor as having PTSD from his service in Iraq along with depression.
When the judge asks her why she does not feel the married is broken, would it be unwise for her to bring up his psych problem in court?
(I am asking on her behalf as she does not have internet access.)
Re: Bringing Up PTSD In Court
When you say this woman is your "girlfriend" - do you mean she's a friend who happens to be a girl - or do you mean that you are dating her?
If she's married and is dating someone else....um...that would indicate that the marriage is broken. It'll also depend on why HE thinks the marriage is broken.
Re: Bringing Up PTSD In Court
The OP (I believe) is a woman. I'm ASSuming, this is just a female (non sexual) friend
Re: Bringing Up PTSD In Court
Not dating - just friends! I like boys :D
I am in CA and she is in WI. I was divorced two years ago and learned a lot about OUR system but know nothing of WI - don't want to give her bad advice. They are both doing this pro se and I helped her with all of her paperwork. She thinks she might 'get in trouble' for bringing up his PTSD in court. I think it is fine since it is true...
Re: Bringing Up PTSD In Court
bumping up - anyone have an opinion if bringing up the PTSD will be acceptable to the judge?
