Wife Overstayed, Needs Adjustment Of Status
Greetings!
I am a US citizen bi-vocational Christian pastor in N.J., who recently married a woman who entered the US legally 8 yrs. ago from Brazil with a tourist visa, and has been here since. I gather she has an over-stayed visa, but can seek adjustment. What forms do I need to fill out so she can legally work and become a permanent resident , since she is my wife and ministry partner. How do I go about to petition for her ? Do I need a lawyer or can I do it alone which is preferable, since I do not get paid by the church which has a few members.
Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Is this the modern way of saying that one has two jobs?:D (I have three. I need a word for that besides "tired"!)

Actually, a lawyer should be preferable, as immigration law is quite complex. Perhaps one of your parishoners is a lawyer or knows a lawyer or is related to one who might help out?
You and your wife will need to file Form I-130 and Form I-485.
