My question involves emancipation laws for the State of:
I want to move out of my house. i am underage. how do i manage to move out.
Start by telling us state!
well my state is Oregon
i am 16
Now that you've read the thread I posted, and the laws of your state, what questions do you still have?
i have a job. i have a place i can move into. I want to know what all i need to do to get emancipated
Why are you trying to become emancipated?
You need to already be living on your own. You need a stable work and educational history. You need to prove that your paycheck can manage your budget.
You need to be living by yourself. All by yourself.
Now, why do you want to be emancipated. Judges hate emancipating children from a home they are currently living in. In other words, if you have a roof over your head and food in your belly, your chances drop significantly.
i want to be emancipated because my father isnt letting me keep any of my money because he cant pay the bills himself and i am sick of it.
That isn't a good reason.
so i have to suffer for his mistake.
Drama much?
You are complaining because you are being asked to help out financially. Wow.
I wonder if you have ever asked dad for a little extra money? Has he ever helped YOU out financially? Look up... see the roof. Feel hungry?
You could help out because you are willing to do your part. Nope... instead, you want to run away and live on your own rather than help out at home.
That'll show dad! Maybe he'll starve to death and/or get kicked out of the house!
And you think you are grown up enough for emancipation?
That's right. You do.
Emancipation is not granted on the basis of, I want. It is granted on the basis of I need.
To paraphrase another poster from this site, "I don't get along with my parents", "My parents don't let me work/keep the money I earn", and "I want to move in with my boyfriend/girlfriend" are none of them legitimate reasons for emancipation. A legitimate reason for emancipation would be, "My parents were killed in a car crash, I have no other relatives, and I have three younger siblings to support".
See the difference?
well i have given him more than 7 thousand so far. i have given up my free time to help him out. so ya i dont care.
I NEED to have a life
i need to start saving up for college.
Still not an answer that will satisfy a judge.
You won't have a life when you're emancipated, and you likely won't have much funds to save up for college. You may feel like giving money to your Dad now is a burden but think about when you're on your own, you will have to pay the bills in full. You won't have anything left.
Lane County Legal Services provides the following information about emancipation in Oregon:
That should be true statewide.Quote:

i already have everything set up and what i am going to do
UHmm Hi So you have to have yur own place yu cant be living wit another family anf paying rent.? I need to be emancipated or its jus gonna resort to running away and if my mom found me i would probably die.
Just so that you know...
I have spoken to literally thousands of children that want to be emancipated. All of whom told us that they were great candidates for one reason or another.
Of all of those children... spread out on at least three of these boards... exactly one has made it....
One. The above Flying Hawk. He is also the only one that I thought could and should do it. And even then, I gave him even money.
He is an extraordinary individual. And he is also the first one to tell you he is struggling to make it.
I hope he does. If you do, let us know.
I can't believe the
people on here.
I feel sooo bad
for you darling.
I was trying to
get emancipated
to cause my mom
abused me and
they told me
that I couldn't
leave her even
tho DSS did NOTHING!!
The court system
is MESSED UP!!
They are not messed up. Do you know how many cases DSS/CpS sees in a week? It's such an overload that they do the best they can. Abuse is not a reason for Emancipation, because the courts do not want to risk putting kids in a situation that is bound to cause more stress than before. They also don't want to put kids in a situation where they would have to feed off of TaxPayers, so instead of risking it they make the laws what they are.
Well they don't
need to keep
em in the
homes where
the abusive
is happening.
And pluse I
live in a small
county trust
me they don't
get many abuse
cases.
I live in a very small county myself and yes they do. And how would you know that they don't, you don't work there you don't know what they deal with.
Cps isn't designed to automatically take kids out of their homes, if a report was truly made and they felt need to investigate they will do so. Even if they do investigate removal is not the first step they take. They will take other routes before so because Foster homes & Group homes are packed just as much.
Just because you didn't get your way, it doesn't mean the whole system is faulty.
