First Offense Caught Shopliftting

My question involves criminal law for the state of: IL

i was caught stealing a $2.99 item. i went to court and was told to do 24hrs for a non for profit organization and the charges would be dropped . but, all the non for profit places i could find only offered 3-5hrs month or a week and the judge only gave me 2 weeks to do it. i have court in four days, will i be arrested right there in the court room or will the case be continued (i was I-bonded)

and on a side note, the guy that caught me said he was going post my picture in the store saying i was a shoplifter and hand it out to the other stores in the area, can he do that? also both cops asked him to drop the charges, but he said he couldn't wait to see me go to jail, am i looking at jail time?

i know what i did was wrong but, jail time seems a little hard for a $2.99 item

A: It's called theft. If you take a toothpick that is not yours, it is stealing. It's quite serious.

the judge said the case will be dismissed if i do the 24hrs if not to case would continued, will i be arrested on that day to wait for the to case finish or will i still be able to stay free on the first bond

How many hours out of the 24 did you complete?

So you couldnt do 5 hours for five different groups?

i completed 14hrs, and no i couldnt do 5 hours for 5 different most for them had the same hours.
