    Driving With Suspended License
My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of:Washington

I got really shaken up tonight when I was pulled over and cuffed by a police officer for driving with a suspended license. I didn't know my license was suspended. I'd never been arrested before or seen the back of a police car.

The short story is that I received a citation back in December of 07. The ticket was mailed to my parents' house where I don't currently live. The Post Office never forwarded the ticket.

I received a delinquency notice in a few weeks back and got in contact with the Municipal Court responsible for the citation. They told me my only route was a motion for deferral of judgment (that's not the right name, but it was something like that). I received the form and mailed it to the court a few days ago.

Apparently having a balance delinquent is grounds for license suspension. I never received any notice that it had been suspended. I figured that since I was in the process of the motion that things wouldn't have gone through yet.

What are my options here? My motorcycle was impounded (wasn't speeding or anything, just got profiled and license came up suspended). I have a court date for the charge of driving with a suspended license in 2 weeks.

Take proof of your actions to court with you, and hope that you get a sympathetic prosecutor. Or, better in my opinion, hire a criminal defense lawyer to assist you with the charge.
