Last Action On Credit Card Account
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: PENNSYLVANIA
I am needing help with a credit card situation that I am in. I have outstanding credit card debt and today a Sheriff came to my home when I was not home and told my landlord that he was looking for me to serve papers on me for a credit card debt.
My question is, what is the statute of limitations on credit card debt in Pennsylvania and how can I obtain the last activity on this specific account. I understand that the statute date begins on the last payment on the account. Is this correct?
Also, since I wasn't home I suppose this Sheriff will be back. What is the protocol/process from the time that I am served until this reaches the court stage? Also, can a Sheriff insist that my landlord open my home to him to see if I am in the house?
Re: Last Action On Credit Card Account
The statute of limitations is 4 years in PA.
To find when the last action was, you'll need to request your credit report from one of the three reporting agencies.
You're entitled to one free report from each agency each year. If you've not yet used it this year, you can request your reports here.
