Caught Shoplifting in the PX
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
Well recently I was caught shoplifting in the PX (military base). Actually I didn't steal anything I place a discount sticker on an item but it is stealing none the less. Well I was arrested finger printed and all that jazz. It was an item that was less than 50 dollars so that makes it a class C misdemeanor. I also know that I will have to pay the PX 200 dollars in a fine, have my id revoked for a yr, and I am done with them. The problem is with the military. I am going to have to court and stuff and I don't know what steps I should take to ensure its not on my record. I am in my 20's and this is the first time I ever had anything on my record. Any advise? Also I am a dependent (not in the military)

These are questions for your attorney as these programs vary. However in most cases they act as a conviction however once you complete program/probatin the charges are dismissed or removed from your record. This means following successful completeion of Diversion program you can legally answer no when asked about convictions
