Collection Of An Old Doctors Bill

My daughter had an appendectomy 9 years ago and we did not have insurance. How long does the hospital have to collect on that debt? I have had my bank accounts frozen and I have judgements. I need to know if there is a statute of limitation or just some sort of idea of when they will start to leave me alone. She had it 3 days before Christmas, had to have 2 extra surgeries because of problems the dr created and was in the hospital for over 6 weeks. I did not sue because I was young and didn't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated as she is a sophmore in high school and off to college soon.
