Will an Informal Disposition Show Up in a Background Check
I was charged with Illegal Parapharnelia last February, which was considered as a misdemeanor, however in my sentence, they considered it as an informal one. What's is the difference between an informal and formal misdemeanor? Am I considered to be in the system if one were to do a background check on me? I am trying to apply for stuff and I am wondering whether I should check 'yes' or 'no' to this specific question of being convicted of a crime. It would help to know what the "informal" in informal misdemeanor means, so that I don't get in trouble for anything I may have written on applications.
Thank you!

Re: Informal Misdemeanor: Am I In "The System?"
Laws are different in each state. That's why, when you posted, you were instructed that laws are different in each state, and were reminded three times that you should disclose your state.
If I were to guess, I would estimate that you were on informal probation.
A criminal conviction is a criminal conviction is a criminal conviction. If you were convicted, you have a criminal record.
