    Shoplifting at Robinsons May
Hi. I'm 21 and was recently stopped at Robinsons May for taking a $10 shirt. It was really stupid and I don't know why I did it. But they took me to the security's office, took the item back and they took my picture, information, ssn, and had me sign a paper. They told me I couldn't come back to that particular store for a year unless I was with my mom or something. They told me since I cooperated, they would let me go with just a warning and not call the police I might not be fined since it was not of big loss but a civil letter or something would be sent to my house stating the events. What is exactly in the letter? Would this be on any kind of record? They said there would be no court or anything. Just wondering, do they send a notice out to all Robinsons May or other department stores regarding the incident to like warn others to look out for me? I'm probably just paranoid but I feel like people look at me funny now. Although not much happened, I'm still freaking out. I just can't believed it happened. Somebody help! Whats going to happen? Do I have anything to worry about or should I just try to relax since they gave me a warning????

    Mr. Knowitall
    Civil Demand Letter
The civil demand letter will ask that you pay a certain dollar figure to resolve the store's civil complaints against you.

I don't know what type of internal record the store maintains.

Play it safe and keep out of all stores of that name. I wouldn't go in, even with your mom. The letter will demand a payment ($250-$500). Pay it and move on with your life. Try not to shoplift in the future.

    Re: Shoplifting at Robinsons May
I got caught shop lifting at robinsons may too. This is what they told me and my friend. I cannot enter the store by myself for a year or when I turn 18 unless accompanied by an adult. As for the other stores like similar to robinsons may (ex. jcpenny etc) I could enter but if I happen to apply for a job at one of those stores, they would be notified that I had shoplifted. They said that I was going to be in their database for 7 years. It doesnt necessarily mean that I wouldnt get the job. But for obvious reasons I mostl likely wont.
