My lawyer told me that I can have my childs father arrested because he has criminally neglected to support family. We have never gone to court for custody or child support but I was wondering if I could still have him arrested. He has seen his kids once in the last 2 months and the only time he gives me money is when I see him (thats also once for money too). Also...I have heard something about I can go through the state where i live (louisiana) and get child support but they dont discuss visitation. can someone please explain? thank you!

I'll add that Support Enforcement Services can help getting child support orders in place....
Child support is separate from child visitation. The site above can help you pursue support for the children, but they have no involvement when it comes to custody or visitation.
This doesn't mean he cannot petition the court for custody or visitation if proven to be the biological father. -

we have 2 kids together and no we have not gone to court to determine custody or support. he has signed both birth certificates recognizing that both kids are his.

Ok, good. But if there is no order for support, then he's not obligated to support, so I don't see him being arrested for anything.
At this point, the only thing you can do is file for support/custody and to establish visitation.
BTW: how much money do you think you'll get from him if he's in jail? -

I would like to extent an apology to everyone I may have offended with my post. I was wrong and out of line. Thats why my post started disappearing because I knew I was wrong and foolish. I have apologize to CourtClerk and hope that forgiveness is in their heart. I took the hatred for my kids father and turned it loose on someone else and thats just not right. I was immature and very disrespectful. CourtClerk was just trying to provide their knowledge of my situation and I took it a different way as an insult instead of help. Then you need to get the ball rolling and get a child support order in place. Go to the site I linked you up with and start reading as to what rights you have and the steps you need to take to get it done.
Family issues are a very emotional subject, but now is the time for you to take action as to what is in the best interests of your children. -
