Alienation Of Affection In Mississippi
Would like some advice, and I will try to make this simple: a friend of mine has been having an affair with a married man. Both of their spouses found out. She was heading toward divorce anyway, so they have begun the divorce proceedings. He was not, and his wife ultimately decided to forgive him. My friend and her lover are still seeing each other, without his wife's knowlege (again). The assumption is that they will continue seeing each other until he gets caught (again). My question is this: if we go out with a group of friends, including her and her lover, should they get caught, and under he Mississippi Alienation of Affection law, could we be held liable for their being out together in our presence, and could we be pulled into any resulting legal battles? Thank you so much!
Re: Alienation Of Affection In MS
I really cannot keep track of all the characters in that drama, but from what I've heard, alienation of affection lawsuits are quite popular in Mississippi.
Just expect to get sued if you get caught again.
Re: Alienation Of Affection In MS
I think you could wind up involved as witnesses, but the action itself is usually limited to being against the paramour, the person stealing away the spouse.
Re: Alienation Of Affection In MS
I realize it's complicated, and again, I apologize, but as this girl's best friend, I really do not want to get drug into her drama...I want to be there to support her, and am through lecturing her, but am also concerned about the implications of them getting caught being together around my family and friends. Thanks again!
Re: Alienation Of Affection In Mississippi
Avoid them and tell them they're not welcome when they're together if you are concerned.
