    Emancipation Help For Georgia
I am a fifteen year old female living in Cobb County, Georgia. I have been living with my mom and my step-dad. I have never been deprived food, or shelter, or anything. Overall, from the outside, I have been given everything...but emotionally, spiritually, and mentally, i have been ripped apart. I hate living here. My parents have tried kicking me out before. SO many times it's not even funny, since I was little. It has been to the point where I have had all my stuff packed and walked away. But they stopped me and told me to come back.
Living here is damaging me so much (not physically, but every other way). I have a place where I can go, I just need to know step-by-step how to do this. I highly doubt my parents will sign ANY papers regarding it because they sure are in love with their image. i just need help!

There is no such thing as a quick emancipation. Its a court proceeding that requires your parents to sign and then you show you are self supportive. Unless your a famous movie star with thousands of dollars it's not gonna happen as I'm sure you don't make enough money to support yourself.

Auburn, you haven't mentioned anything in your thread that would indicate that you understand what emancipation is.

Not liking your home life and moving in with someone else is not emancipation, and if your parents are against it, it is called running away.

In 2005, in Georgia, twelve applications for emancipation were approved (out of several thousand received). That's not twelve hundred or twelve thousand approved, that's twelve. One football team with a single backup on the bench.

The legislature thought that twelve were too many, so they tightened up the laws making it more difficult to be emancipated. As far as the research I have seen so far, NO applications were approved for 2006. Numbers for 2007 are not yet available.

So you want a step by step listing on how to be emancipated in Georgia?

Step one; Have your 18th birthday.

Emancipations are granted to children that NEED the rights of adults to survive... not to children that WANT to leave a home.

Aside from cbg's very accurate statement, you are not already living on your own and supporting yourself.

You don't get emancipation BEFORE you live on your own, you get it AFTER you are living on your own. All alone. With no parents available or qualified to take care of you.

Judges will not grant emancipation to a child living under her parent's roof, with their food in her belly and their clothes on her back.

You don't need to be emancipated. You have a home.
