    Shoplifting and visa status
what will happen if i dont appoint any lawyer( iam broke and cant afford one) and go to the court directly on the specified date and confess.
will the fine be less?and will it not reflect on my visa status?

and what will happen if i dont plead guilty without appointing a lawyer.will the fine be more?and will it reflect on my visa?

what will happen if i dont go to the court at all?

iam really ashamed of doing this silly act.

    don't go...
Just don't go to court at all. They'll forgive you. It will be dropped if you don't show up.

    Consequence of Pleading Guilty
Now, now - play nice....

If you don't go to court a bench warrant would ordinarily be issued for your arrest.

If you work with a lawyer, or wait until you have the chance to talk to a prosecutor, you may be able to get a plea bargain and perhaps could even avoid a conviction. Given your immigration status, you should consult a lawyer conversant with immigration issues before you plead guilty to any crime.
