Notice With Credit Bureaus
Hi Y'all! I have a question for everyone here. I have two credit cards that I committed the apparently unforgivable sin of signing the application forms with my now ex husband. He has, in one case, written a letter to the cc company saying that he's solely and completely responsible for all debt on that card and that he wants me removed as an authorized party/co-owner on the account. The 2nd card he filled out their form for removing me and we both signed it. Neither cc company will release me though. They both refuse as his credit is far worse than mine. I have closed both accounts and he is refusing to pay one of them and threatening bankruptcy.
Question, I was told that I could put a notice with all 3 credit bureaus stating that the debt is his and that I have release from him on both. Does anyone know what that's called so that I can get started on it?
Re: Notice With Credit Bureaus
you can put a statement from the consumer(you) on any report, but neither that nor these letters you and your husband sent in will absolve you of any liablilty for the accounts.

I realize it won't absolve me of any liability. From that standpoint I'm just screwed. What I'm hoping it will accomplish though is that if a potential or current creditor is looking at my credit they'll see that while the debt is there, he's agreed to take it on in spite of the fact that it's on my report. One thing I learned from all this, never, under any circumstance, sign a credit application with anyone else, even if you're married to them at the time but especially if your credit is light years better than theirs. :wallbang:
