How Do Marriage Licenses Work?
My best friend is getting married to a man who is in the process of getting divorced. He just found out however that the court date for the divorce isnt until June 17th, and they are getting married JUne 7th. Could they still go through with the marriage? CAn they get a marriage license? The state we are all in is MIchigan, how will this work.

Not legally, they aren't
you cannot be married to 2 people at the same time and unless he is legally (as in the divorce is signed by the judge), she is still married to the other guy.
It has been a long time but I believe there is a question on the license application about your current marital status. If one would lie on that app, the resulting license could be voided. If you tell the truth and you are married, a license will not be issued.
So, while they may be able to be "married" in a church or private ceremony, they cannot become legally married. They could go through with the church ceremony and later actually attend to the legalities of a marriage. That would cause the odd problem of explaning to everybody what is going on and it will make you choose as to what to look at as the actual anniversary date (that is a matter of semantics and not legalities though. the legal marriage will be the true date of marriage will be the only date of concern in legal matters)
