    Name Misspelled On Birth Certificate
My SC birth cert spelled my name Gale, but for 48 years now, I've used GAIL for everything, including a federal ID/employment. Now, after moving back to SC, I can't get a dr lic because the birth cert spelling doesn't match SS card, etc. (Never mind that I had a SC dr lic many years ago, with GAIL). I'm at a loss on how to fix this. Any help please.

Filing for a name change will probably be the fastest and easiest way to solve the problem. Contact your court clerk's office and ask where you can find the forms for a name change for an adult.
