Can I Move To Missouri With My Children When Their Fathers Live In Connecticut
I am located in CT. My children have two seperate fathers, my oldest is my exhusband's, in court we agreed to fifty fifty custidy with me being the primary. With my son's father we have no custidy arrangments though he gets visitation. My ex husband is in the usnavy and I don't feel I should be stuck here when he could be shipped anywhere. Also my fiance is getting out of the navy and jobs back in MO are better, housing is less expensive, there would be his family there to help babysit so i could finish school and get a real career. Will I be able to take my children to MO from CT? If I offered that they see the children for school vacations and summers?
We are struggling in CT, I would really like to get off of state assistance and make a better life for my children, even better being able to afford a real home for them.

Have you talked to BOTH fathers about moving?
If so, what did both of them say about it?

You'll need to notify both fathers in writing of your intention to move. If they still won't agree, then you have to take each one to court and prove to the court that the move is in the childrens' best interests. If either father is involved in thier child's life at all, it will be difficult to do, and you really should hire an attorney for this.
Re: Can I Move To Missouri With My Children When Their Fathers Live In Connecticut
I have recently found out in my divorce papers it does not state that i need to notify him or the courts of my move, nor that i am pervented from moving out of state, the courts told me i could just go and legally i am not doing anything wrong, but it's costly to fight in court, and there will be a definate yes or no, but i know i cannot chose the easy way, i am not good at screwing people over, specially when i know they are good dads for the most part. this has been a very tough choice for me, would the courts take in acount for the fact that i could have just moved and not said anything but chose not to do it that way because it's not the right thing to do???

I understand your thinking, but from a legal standpoint people do not get "credit" for doing things the right way. Even though your court order doesn't state that you must inform your ex, there is most likely a provision in your state's statutes that require notification and permission even when it's not court ordered. You also have the other father who you must notify and get his permission.
I highly advise you to NOT move without WRITTEN and NOTARIZED permission from BOTH fathers. Although going to court can be expensive, you need to do everything right or you could risk losing custody. Get a consult with a local attorney to see what your best options are.
Re: Can I Move To Missouri With My Children When Their Fathers Live In Connecticut
I know it's very confusing, I am trying to find an attorney but they all seem way out of my budget, see the whole point in wanting to move so we are financally stable??? I have talked to the courts and they are the ones who have told me that I could just move, that I did not need permission or to have to contact the court, about three people at the courthouse told me that, also one lawyer i talked with said the same thing, I just know that's not the right Morally way to go about this, thanks for your info and imput, it's really been helpful
