Moving Out At The Age 17 In Texas
I am 16 years old and will be 17 in less than a month. April 2 of next month. im graduating high school in may 2008(2 months) and hope to move out. i work a full time job working 40+ hours a week making pretty decent money. i would like to also move a little ways away from the city im in because there is way too much bad influence around here. i pay for my car payment and insurance every month with no struggle. i can already line up an apartment with a couple friends and easily afford splitting rent and bills. if my mom is completely agreed upon this how much of a possibility do i have of moving out in around 2 to 3 months when i graduate?
Thanks for helping out guys. just trying to get some more information containing the law they have for moving out at age 17 in Texas

If your parents do not have a problem with you moving out and you stay out of trouble, there really isn't a problem.
It's getting the permission - that isn't always the easy part.

As far as I know, in Texas you can move out at 17, but your parents cannot "kick" you out until your 18. But I could be completely wrong. Look it up online. They have all of those laws online.
Re: Moving Out At The Age 17 In Texas?
The age of majority in Texas is 18. Leaving home without permission at age 17 is called "running away from home." You would have to ask your local law enforcement agency what they would do if you ran away; some aren't particularly interested in trying to force 17-year-olds to live at home, particularly in states where juvenile courts have no jurisdiction over 17-year-olds.
