Re: Petit Larceny Questions
Well, the only advice I can offer here is the class might help your case in the long run, and if nothing else comes from it, you're a better person for taking it.

Like everyone else here, I got caught shoplifting, it was embarassing and silly of me and i understand what i did is wrong.
Here's my dilemma.
The charge is from dilliards in Vegas. I live in Maui. It's not easy getting the money to afford a ticket to and from vegas. i've been saving up to go back for the court date. but is there a way i can avoid going back to the mainland without a warrant being issued? My dad suggests taking the 6 hour course from the NASP site. I know what I did was wrong and there were no intentions of stealing when i went into the store. it sort of just happened and it was completely thoughtless in the action. Any ideas are welcome.
NASP and CASA both have programs that will help judge smile upon your case. NASP is only in one state were CASA is nationwide. However it appears you may already be involved in NASP good place I know their Director if thats not enough send me a PM I will give contact info for high ranking member of CASA
Re: Petit Larceny Questions
I haven't done anything with either program yet. If CASA is suggested over NASP than i'll go for that one. But do you think it will help me out in the travelling area? It seems like the avg fine is around $300.. that plus a roundtrip ticket to vegas will come to about $1000.. and that's how much my rent is alone here. .. again, just for the sake of not getting evicted, what would be your suggestion?
Thank you again for the CASA info.
Re: Petit Larceny Questions
Hire an attorney. See if the court will accept a waiver of appearance. Let the attorney work a deal and, if possible, allow you to serve your sentence and probation from HI.
...and don't steal when in someone else's city!
Re: Petit Larceny Questions
CASA or NASP will not help you with fines or cost of travelling they will only provide you information or programs for shoplifters
Re: Petit Larceny Questions
I've been up all morning trying to get a hold of somebody in vegas to help me out with this. I don't have a case number or citation number or whatever. I have no idea who to call to ask questions or how to contact them. The number on the slip is a payment number and the direct number to the justice courts havent picked up the phone. I called the station and they transferred me to the court number again which didn't pick up once again. What am I supposed to be doing here?
