Statute Of Limitations For Sexual Abuse
Approximately seventeen or eighteen years ago I was sexually abused. I won't go into detail but what I need to know is, is it too late to press charges? There is another who was abused by the same person that abused me. I was three or four when I was being abused. I remember everything and I have two witnesses. Now I live in canada, so if any of you know what the statute of limitations for sexual abuse is, or if you can tell me where I can find this information out I'd greatly appreciate it.
    Thanx for your time

A: Talk to the prosecutor in county (parish or whatever) were you abused.

You can always file a police report in the jurisdiction where it occurred, but whether or not the prosecutor will file charges and pursue the case will depend on whether they think they can PROVE that the crime occurred. Obviously it's way too late for any physical evidence, but possibly witness statements from those around you at the time, or any correspondence with the perp over the years could be helpful.
