    Visa Fraud and Marriage Fraud
quote: Bureau of Diplomatic Security, U.S. Department of State, Special Agent Tom Depenbrock.

I am here today to deliver a clear message. Marriage and visa fraud potentially threaten the national security of the United States.

The U.S. visa is one of the most coveted items in the world, and foreign nationals have acquired visas fraudulently to enter the United States. Also the danger Marriage Fraud Poses to the National Security is these crimes affect the American economy as well. These foreign nationals who enter the country and commit marriage fraud or any other type of fraud are defrauding the United States of immigration benefits to which they are not entitled. These crimes violate the legal immigration process. They also threaten the integrity of the system for others ... Marriage fraud also threatens Americans who live with a stranger who is
now his or her new "spouse." We have seen instances where the foreign spouse has gained access to bank accounts and other personal information and left the American -- in trouble.

Marriage fraud is a serious crime. Participants may think their single fraudulent marriage will not be discovered They threaten our national, economic, and personal security. In closing, I want to reemphasize the seriousness ... marriage and visa fraud ... bring ... consequences are far greater than the potential gains. Special Agent Tom Depenbrock, U.S. Department of State.

    Marrying an Immigrant
Of course, to the extent possible people should take care when they marry a foreign national that they are doing so to further a genuine relationship, and are not being exploited for immigration purposes.

    Any other advice ?
Any other advice ? Something useful. Like where to go or who to go to - to have an "official" "Withdrawal of Petitions" form created, instituted with immigration DHS ? Even outside agencies or names, politicians, etc. -- any direction you might suggest ?

Then what do victims of marriage fraud do? I married a Brasilian woman in October 2000 because I loved her. I did not know at the time she was in the coutry illegally, had great debt, and was using me to stay in the U.S.A. I paid her over $50,000 in debt and she left and filed for divorce after a few years even though she was only with me for half that time. She committed adultery and so forth. I have sent many letters of complaint to the U.S.C.I.S. but they have never responded. Who do victims of marriage fraud notify that will listen and do something?

Does USCIS investigate case when the spouse realized it's a marriage fraud? How to report it? How long will it take for the ICE to begin the investigation?

I would like to hear the reply about what to do if you are the victim of marriage fraud. I waited five years to get my husband into this country. We have a son who was born overseas but is a US citizen. I am unhappy in my marriage but if I divorce my husband now he will be deported most likely and my son will lose his father. In a way it would be better to remove marriage as a way of getting in, let people get here on their own two feet and then marry US citizens for love only! It would remove so much confusion and pain. Even when 2 people do love each other, I believe that the citizen always has this deep down fear of betrayal because of so many stories one hears. I would like to know who is protecting us American citizens when things do go sour? Why do we have to take such a huge risk? If marriage was removed from the equation people would be free to make their choices instead of feeling trapped or always wondering. Its like you are always waiting for your life to begin or end.

am appalled at the fact that there doesn't seem to be much to protect us from these kind of people. I too am a victim of this "fraud". I have been married 3 1/2 years. He only received his residency last August, and since he has completely changed. We as far as I believed we planning a trip to his homeland for this month, March, 2008.
Turns out he has been playing me all this time. He has a child from a previous relationship, which I was aware of and accepted. Problem is that I was made believe that his relationship with the child's mother has been over way before he decided to come into the US. My whole marriage to this man was "perfect" as far as I could see. He was the man that I wanted and made me happy, always very sweet and attentive. We made many plans for the future, respected my wishes to continue my education and pursue my career. Mutual agreement on no children for the time being.
Well, since the receipt of his Residency in August, the man I thought I knew was no more. In the beginning for the year I find out that he has hidden the money that we were saving for "Our vacation". He started acting very strangely and of course I needed to know what was going on.
I know have tons of e-mails, voice recordings, recorded computer activity of his talking about his real intentions. All this time he has been planning to use me, get his residency so that eventually he could become a citizend and bring his "ex-girlfriend", son and legalize his mother.
I have contacted, sent all the evidence that I have to DHS, filed a report. NO RESPONSE!!!! I finally was able to get in touch with an officer with Public Affairs, and his response to me was that this case does not meet the standards to the US Attorney to act on. ARE YOU KIDDING ME????
I contacted a lawyer that told me that he could help me get file an extensive report with DHS and build a case against him and get his Residency cancelled, him deported and possibly prosecuted for fraud. Problem is that I don't have the money at the moment to continue with the case. He is leaving the country tomorrow on "HIS" vacation and I am left without a dime, and the authorities can't help me???? IS THERE NO JUSTICE??? AND YES MAYBE THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE THERE ARE STILL SOME OF US THAT BELIEVE IN TRUE LOVE OR AT LEAST IN HAVING A COMPANION WITH OUR BEST INTRESTS IN MIND. HOW NAIVE RIGHT?

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE OR WHAT ELSE I COULD DO?

This is so horrible to hear about "dirty agenda" spouses. Life is so short! People should spend more time for LOVE, PEACE, "Building & enjoying beauty”, but not for destroying others' life. :wallbang:
