Trespass For Campers
I'm having trouble finding state laws about trespassing. I'll bicycling through NC, VA, PA, NY, VT, NH, and ME. I'm interested in camping in low use areas which may be public or private, rather than campgrounds. Can anyone point me to such information for these states?

Re: Trespass For Campers
You cannot legally camp on private lands without permission. But many landowners, churches, etc in rural areas will allow you if you ask nicely.
National Park Service, US Forest Service, and the various similar state agencies all have websites, camping info, contact info, etc. Try googling.
If you're any good at stealth camping, you shouldn't have a big problem finding and camping in "low use" areas. Once you disappear into the woods a bit you'll probably never be noticed. Usually rangers will just run you off if you're in a restricted area that isn't posted. Posted areas may get you a ticket and a fine, but usually just a warning.
