If you leave home without parental consent your parent can request Police return you and those giving you a place to stay could be charged with crimes
I understand that every state is different. Are you saying that off of a general understanding or do you know thats the law in Louisiana ?
Thank you aaron. I don't fully understand everything that I read but my only question right now is , can just my dad have me emancipated? The reason I ask is because my parents are still together but my dad is just never allowed to stay home. He knows what I'm going through and I know he would help me.
Either parent may contest the emancipation and give cause
So what does that mean if my dad says yes and my mom says no than I'm stuck ? Because I know she will not like this at all she is a control freak among other things. I'm just trying to get out of the house as soon as possible so I cant get on with my life.
It means either parent may (if he or she chooses) contest the petition and give tjhose reasons to judge. Just so you know about less than 1% of all petitions are successful so even without a protest from either parent you face an uphill battle
More weight will be given to the parent you are actually living with as well.
That would normally mean, the parent who has been given primary custody by a court.
