    What county in Ohio?
Plead not guilty, ask for public defender if you can not afford one. If you can afford one, you will need a criminal defense lawyer. Then ask your lawyer if you can get a diversion. You will have to complete a program and providing you have a clean record and will continue to have a clean record, you will get court costs and possible a fine, but it will stay off your record.

It is Hamilton County, I had court this morning and the judge said I qualify for a diversion program. Do I still need to find an attorney? I am supposed to go to see the public defender monday. Why do I plead not guilty when it is obvious I did it? Thank you sooo much for helping me.

Pleading not guilty extends case so you can talk to Public Defender and he can talk to DA about Diversion

No you don't need to find an attorney.

You are involved in a criminal case! This can have life altering impact on you. Whether you hire an Attorney or get a Public Defender it is never a good idea to pursue any court action or decisions without advice from an Attorney

If he already has a diversion program, what good is an attorney?

OP is not in said program yet judge stated he qualified! Yes he could talk to DA himself and arrange a plea deal wnd its likely he could get same deal as he would with Public Defender. However OPs lack of knowledge of the Law could cost him. Even if asked to pay public defender OP is looking at around $100.00 more than likely. A small price to pay to be sure he gets best deal. Also note OP states he seeing Public Defender so judge may have already requested he do so

Am I likely to get a civil demand letter from Kroeger grocery store for my shoplifting of $80? I think I am going to be in diversion program. Also, how much will the demand be?
    Thanks

The Civil Demand letter has nothing to do with any court decisions or actions and pretty much a guarantee
