Capital One And Dominion Law Firm
I got served with a summons last month on an old Capital one account, was aware that I had two, agreed to pay the first one and told them that at the price I'm paying for the first one could not afford to pay the second UNTIL the first one was finished but DID agree to make the payments when the first one was complete.. Of course the sheriffs office served me again with the second notice. Do I have any rights and is law firm legal in NC even tho it's based in VA???? Thanks in advance :-))
Re: Capital One And Dominion Law Firm
If you have been sued, you should have received a set of instructions including your deadline for answering the complaint when you were served. You have the right to answer that complaint, raise any defenses you have, and defend yourself in court.
If the law firm has a licensed North Carolina lawyer appearing for your case, that's all they need.
Re: Capital One And Dominion Law Firm
Thanks for the answer.. It's 30 days for a response. I contacted a law firm here in NC so hopefully they will be able to work something out with the people at Dominion, which by the way I couldn't find them listed in VA in the attorney registry.. are they rather shady or something ? Maybe I was just looking in the wrong place.
Re: Capital One And Dominion Law Firm
Some collection firms contract with lawyers in other states, as needed.
Re: Capital One And Dominion Law Firm
I guess I'm just really curious if anybody else has had dealings with Dominion and Captital one.
Re: Capital One And Dominion Law Firm
Right now I'm dealing with an old Capital One (Signet Bank) credit card bill that was bought by First Resolution Investment Corp. and I am trying to fight a Default Judgment that I was not served but mistakenly signed a Consent Judgment two months after they law firm representing First Resolution Investment Corp. got the judgment approved without my being able to answer the complaint.
Re: Capital One And Dominion Law Firm
Just passing through here. You'll have better luck finding this debt collecting law firm if you google "dominion law associates". They are legitimate under Pender and Coward law firm, are licensed in VA and NC, and collect for Capital One. Search "dominion law associates" and you'll uncover some good information.
Capital One and Dominion Law
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Florida. My payment isn't due until the 25th of each month.. I have been paying on the 5th.. 20 days before it's due yet they told me I have to pay closer to the due date.. never been late.. are they truly a law firm because I've had a chat with a couple of basic illiterate chaps trying to explain to them I'm paying EARLY, PLEASE stop calling and telling me I'm late.. anyone else deal with this bunch???
Re: Capital One and Dominion Law
They're legit - a division of Pender & Coward.
If you Google on [ Dominion Law Associates ], you'll find a ton of complaints about them. They have a reputation for being bumbling morons.
Send them a letter - certified, return receipt requested - demanding that they stop calling you and communicate with you only in writing. That should cut the annoyance factor down some.

Thanks much for the info..
