Is There Anything Else I Can Do?
I was convicted of statutory rape back in 1997 in Tennessee. I received 4 years of probation which I served in Florida because this is where my family was. My ex-sister-in-law introduced me to a guy and both of them told me that he was 16 and I was 18 almost 19 and come to find out that when my ex-sister-in-law called the law the boy was only 15. I had a son that was a year old when this happened. I never lost custody of my child and I still have him. He is now 13 years old. Since I did my probation in Florida I had to register as a sex offender and now it is interfereing with my sons life. I have filed for a pardon through Tennessee and I was denied right away. Is there any other options availible for me? I have been married going on 10 years and have not been in any other trouble.

You can try appealing the Board of Pardons' decision, but outside of that, I don't believe you have other options.
Have you talked to an attorney?
Re: Is There Anything Else I Can Do?
In the denial letter it states that I can not appeal the decision unless a new Governor comes into office and changes the criteria under which you file for. I don't know of any good attorneys in Tennessee
that I can talk to. I live in Florida. I have been doing a little of research on my own.
As a matter of fact today I called the probation and parole that handled the pardon paper work and she told me that because my son already knows about the crime that this is why they denied my pardon. They didn't even take into consideration that in the State of Florida I am a registered Sex Offender. I guess that was over looked or its just that because they don't have to go through life and watch other parents and children be nasty to their child for something the parent did in the past.
