Getting My Common Law Partner US Citizenship
I have dual citizenship in the US and Canada and I currently live in Canada with my boyfriend and we are legally considered common-law. We want to move to California, a state that does not recognize common law marriages. Can anyone tell me if they will recognize it if it was established in Canada??? I can only find info that they can recognize it if it was established in another "State".. orrr any info about how he can get citizenship without us just getting married right away???

For immigration, the only entity whose opinion matters as to the validity of your marriage is the USCIS. You should be able to establish that your common law marriage is valid, but it is more difficult than with an "official" marriage.
