Emancipation In Florida At 16
Im currently 15 years old and will be turning 16 in the next two months.I have a stable job and make decent money.I have over 15,000$ in my bank account. My parents dont abuse me physically or mentally. They just really controling.I dont have a bad home life it actually what most teenagers would want. I would like to know what my chances are for getting emancipated. I have been dying to move out for the last year.I pay rent in my parents house buy all my own groceries and etc. help with the electric bill and phone.. so why not be on my own. Ive looked into getting an apartment and put my name on the waiting list. Ive also an the numbers for bills including rent water electric gas groceries car payment insurance clothes and etc. phone and cable and can do this stabley.basically im wondering...
What my chances are for getting emancipated?
If I have to have my parents consent in Florida?and if I do need consent can I go around it anyway..? because no parent is going to willing give their consent.
If I have to show proof or residency?
If I have to have a vehicle in my name?
Does your home life have to be unstable or does a judge have to find it unfit to be emancipated?
Re: Emancipation In Florida At 16
You not only have to have parental consent in Florida, the ONLY way a Florida teen will ever be emancipated is if THE PARENTS file the petition. If the parents will not agree, you will not be emancipated. Period, end of story, no way around it.
