    Long Forgotten Child Support
My father left after my sister was born, before I was born. When my mother got pregnant between my sister and me, my grandmother made her abort it. When she was pregnant with me, my father claimed to be unable to handle two kids and disappeared for 5 years. He showed up for three days when I was 5, then left again. Then again when I was 13, he stayed with us for 6 months as we tried to help him quit drinking. He wound up stealing from us and abusing us because of alcohol. We asked him to leave. Later on the Tennessee bounty hunters came and arrested him due to a warrant. For my entire life, Children and Families of Alabama has been searching for my father, trying to get child support money out of him that was owed for my sister. Every time, he claimed to be his identical twin brother, and that he was not home, or my grandmother would answer the door. They would destroy the papers and claim they never received them. In 2005, my father's twin died of liver trouble from drinking alcohol. Still, he continued to use his brother's identity to avoid child support. As an extra precaution, he began living with friends, not having an address or phone of any kind, but kept his postal address with his mother.

When my sister turned 18, they stopped searching for our father. Since he left before I was born, my mother's long lost husband was listed as my father. (They married young and separated, it was arranged). When my mother's husband was proven not to be my father, the state of Florida (where we'd lived since I was 13) began searching again for my father, to have a paternity test done. He again used his brother's identity to elude legal paperwork. He is still running and hiding, and no one is after him anymore.

just the other day, my grandmother called, and gave me his number, saying that he had his own place. I looked up the number, only to find that it is a couple's residence. He's living with friends again.

    But now to the point:

I now know where my father is, and I want to know if there is a way to charge him with abandonment of 2 children, and refusing to pay child support, and refusing to do a paternity test on 1.

Is there a way to have him sentenced to pay everything he owed for the past 20 years, or sue him or something for everything he put us through?

We still live in Florida, and we told him where we lived (He even came down once) and every time we moved he knew where we were and refused to acknowledge it. I still even have letters he (very rarely) sent. Is this proof enough to pin him for abandonment?

You should let your mother know your father's address so that she can notify the TN CSE and they can persue enforcing the arrears owed for your sister.

Your mother can also let the FL DOR know the address because you are only 19, they can still file to establish paternity.

Xena! Are you saying that this person's father could wind up paying child support for a 19 year old??? That does not sound possible. The only way you can get back child support, is if the father was ordered to pay CS, he signed the order & then refused to pay

No, he cannot be charged current CS. However, since the DOR was already looking for him, it's possible, although not probable, that he could be hit with 2 years of rero support. Also, if the OP's mother ever recieved any public assitance, the state will demand reimbursement, and that could possibly cover years worth of CS to be paid to the state.
