Married Permanent Resident, Overstayed
Friends,
I married my husband, a PR of 18 years, about 2 years.
He told us to come live with him in the US. My son and I moved from New Zealand to be with him.
When we came, he petitioned for our marriage based green card.
However, we recently found out that PRs cannot hold their spouses or children with them unlike Citizens can.
Therefore, we are soon to get our visas/green cards, but because we over stayed, I have heard that we will be denied and will have to face deportation.
Could anyone help or explain to me what to do to get out of this?
My son is 17 and will soon need to prepare for college. I feel so horrible, as if I have ruined his life.
Please help.

Get an immigration attorney.
You don't say what forms you filed, or whether or not you filed to adjust your status. You can read about the proper steps for a permanent resident to bring their foreign born spouse to the US here.
