    I-751 Removal Of Conditional Residency
I am looking for anyone with recent experience with the I-751 Removal of conditional residency.

Two years of conditional expires May 5, 2008
We filed Feb 2, which is the requisite "90 days prior to expiration".
We received the confirmation of receipt, which says "your conditional automatically is renewed for one year". Looks like they are backlogged a while.

However, this was supposed to replace the "expiring" card. The letter talks about biometrics, but I assume that is for the actual removal/permanent card, as was part of the application for removal.

Does anyone know if we will receive a NEW card in the interim?

I am worried about returning to US after travel abroad....Sure, we have the letter, but is that good enough??

Thanks in advance for your help!!

No one can answer that with any certainty. If UCIS has renewed your conditional status for a year, it's likely because they are very behind.

Yes, while CIS is processing the joint petition or waiver, you can travel abroad even if the conditional resident card has expired. The CIS will issue you a receipt once it receives the I-751. The CIS receipt serves as proof of your continued lawful status in the United States. A conditional resident can use this filing receipt and the expired conditional resident card to reenter the United States following a trip abroad. It is important to be aware of the expiration date on the receipt and to reenter the United States prior to that date.
