Ok urban wants to be a smart butt ok I will play. If your going to answer Police questions tell the truth! However refusing to answer question can take a normal cite and release and turn it into a night in jail so its still your choice.

I am a bit of a smart alec. I actually got it while in Criminal Justice.

Not answering questions will definitely end up being taken to jail. Answering the questions will give them all the information that they need to prosecute you and your loved one/friend. ..and they can likely find out who that is as a condition of any plea bargain or diversion agreement.
...and they may cite you and leave or they may take you to jail.

I would be cautious if they asked questions like "where were you".

so i think my friend and i are screwed. cause when he ran away he dropped his glasses and i received a letter about some missing glasses at the place where i was at, should i just tell them the whole truth and go to jail? i was thinking about denying that those glasses were either mine or his. is this smart or should i give up?

The letter is most likely to get you to return and arrest you although they can easily send a Policeman to do so as well. I would find an Attorney and discuss how to deal with this
