Property Tresspassing With 4-Wheelers
I am located in Greene County, Pennsylvania. I own 555 acres and run a beef cattle business on my property. I have many hay fields, pasture fields and wooded areas. I am having a terrible time with local residents riding their 4 wheelers on my property, destroying hayfields. I dont have fencing around my entire property, but do have no tresspassing signs across my entire property. I even went as far as putting in posts and stretching barb wire in the most offended areas. Only to return a couple of days later to find the wire cut or the posts removed. The utility right of ways are completely destroyed and many trees and plants have been lost due to erosion.
I have notified the local authorities(state police, sheriff, and game commision) to no avail. They have stated to call them when I see tresspassers, but by the time someone responds, usually 15 minutes, the violaters are gone. I have followed some to their homes and no know who some of them are but the authorities say if they dont catch them on the property they cant do anything.
I am at wits end, what can I do. Not sure where to go from here. Any advice is helpful.
Thanks
JC

Consider investing in some trail cameras.

If you know, by actually seeing them in the act, and can positively identify them, you can swear out a complaint for trespass and for cutting the fence. You could also file small claims suit for damages, even if law enforcement won't help in this by investigating it as a criminal matter. Getting sued and summoned into court(even if you don't prevail) may persuade them to stop visiting your property. Photos/video of the damage would certainly help.
Be careful with the barbed wire and fences. You can certainly erect fences for legitimate purpose such as livestock, boundry marking, and to keep out trespassers - but make sure wire fences are visible with yellow streamers, etc, and that your posting is up to snuff. Courts have ruled in favor of injured trespassers who were injured when property owners strung wire fences, fishline with hooks, dug hidden ditches, etc for the express purpose of deterring by injury off road vehicle operators.
