Can I Get Emancipated?

I am 16years old. I have a little sister whos 10. I live with my grandma (nana), mom, and little sister. My mom is no "mom". It's a bad environment at my house for my sister and I. I will be going to Korea for modeling in 3weeks, and will stay there for 2months. But I want to get emancipated and live with my little sister and nana in an apartment that my nana will pay for with her job, and I can help with my modeling jobs. I don't know how long it takes, but I want to leave imediately, without my moms concent. Can I do this?? And if so, how do I go about it?? Thank you.

Emancipation is not available in all states and you failed to name yours. Furthermore what you desribe will not meet criteria as emancipation is about "self" support

MINORS' DISABILITIES




§ 129.010. Age of majority.


All persons of the age of 18 years who are under no legal disability, and all persons who have been declared emancipated pursuant to NRS 129.080 to 129.140, inclusive, are capable of entering into any contract, and are, to all intents and purposes, held and considered to be of lawful age.


§ 129.020. Disability of minority removed in connection with any transaction entered into pursuant to Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944.


1. The disability of minority of any person otherwise eligible for guaranty or insurance of a loan pursuant to the Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944, as amended (38 U.S.C. §§ 3701 et seq.), and of the minor spouse of any eligible veteran, irrespective of his or her age, in connection with any transaction entered into pursuant to that act, as amended, is hereby removed for all purposes in connection with such transactions, including, but not limited to, incurring of indebtedness or obligations, acquiring, encumbering, selling, releasing or conveying property or any interest therein, and litigating or settling controversies arising therefrom, if all or part of any obligations incident to such transaction are guaranteed or insured by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs pursuant to such act.


2. This section must not be construed to impose any other or greater rights or liabilities than would exist if such person and such spouse were under no such disability.

JUDICIAL EMANCIPATION OF MINORS

Any minor who is at least 16 years of age, married or living apart from his parents or legal guardian, and who is a resident of the county, may petition the juvenile division or family division of the district court of that county for a decree of emancipation. The district court may refer the petition to a master appointed pursuant to chapter 62 or 432B of NRS.


§ 129.100. Notice of filing of petition: Form.


1. After a petition has been filed, unless the person to be served voluntarily appears and consents to the hearing, the court shall direct the clerk to issue a notice, reciting briefly the substance of the petition, stating the time and date set for the hearing of the petition, and requiring the person served with the notice to appear before the court at the hearing if he desires to oppose the petition.


2. The notice issued pursuant to subsection 1 must be in substantially the following form:

I got this job from my agent, it is totally legitimate. My mom has agreed to let me go. Contracts have not been signed yet. But soon will. I'm not sure who signs it.

Police can be called and haul your butt back also whom ever gives you a place to stay can be charged with crimes. Not to mention you could be sent to juvie or boot camp

Thank you, unfortunately, my moms problems have started long before I was born, and have escalated. There is no "blowing over" with her. She stops one problem, and starts another.

I have only 2 more years, but my sister is only 10, and I fear 8 years is just too long, this is not the way I want her to grow up.

Your mother would be the one that needs to sign it, as you are a minor.

I hope your mother has the contract reviewed by an attorney.

There are some modeling scams that have been going on for many years and although some are legitimate, many, IMO, are not. They tend to change forms as many scams do.

One example is some of the beauty pageants, people get so caught up in them that they don't question whether or not it's the "real deal".

They get promised things if they win, and then for some reason or another, hmmm... it doesn't happen. Of course, they can make things happen when the contestants are being charged non-refundable fees (this is how they make their money). Then if a contestant complains they are blackballed. These agencies cannot afford to have anybody reveal the truth about them, how else can they keep stringing others along if the truth does come to light.

I hope you are not required to pay money up front to get this modeling job in Korea.

No contract is signed yet, and she is suppose to leave in 3 weeks!
