    Tennessee Emancipation Law
My name is katy. I have been contemplating this for a while, i live in the state of tennessee and want to move out. I have been going through sexual abuse from my stepdad for the last 6 years. I have put court cases against him, and have written police reports but nothing seems to work. my mom has even testified against me in court. she doesn't believe me now and never will. my brother has testified on my side being as he's seen it. I am 17 and will be 18 in a little under a year. i was wondering if anyone knows a way that i can move out from my parents house before i turn 18. i have a family that is willing to take me in and provide for me, but i know my mom will never consent to it. is this possible in anyway shape or form i am willing to do whatever i have to to get out of this house i feel unsafe and scared. living with my dad is not an option seeing as he is physically abusive. please help!!!

    Moving Out
Tennessee does not have an emancipation statute.

Given your age, if you move out into an appropriate environment, the courts and police may be unwilling to try to force you to return home. You may wish to check with your local police department to see what their policies are, in relation to a 17-year-old who moves out against her parents' wishes.
