Shoplifting At Duane Reade, in NYC

I am 20 yrs old.

I was accused of shoplifting 1 envelope!!!! in Duane Reade in NYC. The guard caught me and was a dick and told me that they would send me a fine.

Duane Reade sent me a fine for $75 in the mail. Now my problem is that I want to bypass the $75 fine and be taken to small claims court. This way I could win the case and not pay anything. However, I might be in Spain when the court date is, so my question is if I miss the court date will I just have to pay the $75? Or will I have to pay more? I know I will lose the case but what are the repercussions.

There is no way you can win this case by not paying the fine will triple or more. then if it does go to court it will rise yet again and you could be held accountable for court costs and legal fees. Its state law and called Civil Demand you cannot win pay the fine
