    Child Support And Emancipation
My ex husband wants to modify the child support agreement and not go through courts or lawyers. He is recommending the when our son starts college in the fall to stop child support and do a friendly hand shake on splitting everything 50-50 and declare the child emancipated. Isn't there a formal process that needs to be done? Indiana

If there is an existing court order then one or both of you will be in contempt if you do otherwise

    Bahahaha
    Thanks for the laugh :)
    But seriously, no.
    That won't work.
    Ever.
Needs to go through the courts.
Even Confucius can predict what will happen if mom agrees, and suddenly gets a hair across her butt somewhere down the line. Dad will have to pay all back child support, late fees, interest etc...
