Irritated Mother
I am from Texas. I was divorced from ex-husband in Sept. 2005. He had not seen my son since Feb. 2005. It has been 3 years since he has seen my son. He owes $4800 in back child support. He has never had any insurance on my son. He has never given me change of address nor telephone the several times that he has relocated. He has been caught selling cocaine. He has been seen using cocaine. He had even offered it to my fiance. Recently he has contacted me and now wants to start seeing my son.
My son only knows my fiance as his father. He has been the one who has raised him for the past two years. My ex-husband was set up with supervised visitations, that he never followed through with. HOw is this going to affect my son? Aren't there any laws out there to protect young children from this kind of traumatic occasions? WHy is it so easy for a man to decide after three years that he can just walk back into his life like it's no big deal. I think that it will totally devastate my son. I wish there was someone out there who thought about the childs best interest and not that of an absent father. Now he wants to take responsibility after all the hard work has been done. It really makes me MAD!!!!!!!!:Is it really that easy for him? WHY?????????? My fiance wants to adopt my son, and how do we do that now??????????

Re: Irritated Mother
Is it possible bio father would voluntarily give up his parental rights?
Otherwise, you could try and have his rights terminated involuntarily, but it isn't that simple, and I would suggest an attorney.
Go here, and scroll down to Chapter 161.
You should also read Chapter 162.
