I Paid My Civil Demand But Got A Letter Saying I Didn't
I am in California, I paid the civil demand ON TIME and sent it in. My bank account says that the $250 was taken out of my account, but today I got a letter saying that my civil demand wasn't received. I have put in a call to the law company, but I am assuming they won't call back until Monday. Any advice on what to do?

Call back on Monday. There isnt much more you can do until you talk to them. If yo have the cancelled check that might help as well

Get the information from your bank.
Call the law firm (most likely a few lawyers and 100's of collectors) and get the name of the person you are speaking with.
Ask them for their fax number.
Fax the copy of their demand and the copy of your payment information from your bank.
Send, via certified mail, a copy of the information faxed as well as the faxed confirmation page along with a letter that you are requesting written confirmation of payment.
Call the law firm and verify the fax was recieved and ask them if they can send you a receipt.
Keep this information in a file for the next 10 years. These "law firms" tend to buy and sell debt to other "law firms" and you may have to show this is paid several times over the next 10 years.
